What is Big data?
Accessing
and storing a large amount of information for analysis has been
practiced for many years. However, the concept of big data spread in the
early 2000s, when industry analyst Lane clarified the current basic
definition of big data. Organizations collect data
at
an unprecedented rate and be processed in a timely manner. RFID tags,
sensors and smart meters have increased the need to process
these large amounts of data in near real time.data is provided in all
types of formats, from numerical data structured in traditional
databases to unstructured text documents, email, video, audio, stock
quotes and financial transactions
from a variety of sources, including business transactions, smart
devices (IoT), industrial equipment, video and social networks. Storage
was a problem in the past, but using cheap storage on platforms like
data lake and Hadoop can ease the burden.
